Brunch has fast become the most popular meal of the day, and it’s not hard to see why. There’s nothing quite like a brunch party to bring people together and celebrate delicious food and drink. Create your guest list

The first thing to do when planning a party of any kind is to organize your guest list. Once you know who is coming, you can create a menu that caters to dietary requirements and preferences. Let your guests know the date of your brunch party well in advance and specify an RSVP date. This will ensure you have plenty of time to get sorted once you know how many people you will be catering for on the day.

Look for inspiration for your menu

Brunch combines the best aspects of breakfast and lunch, and it has snowballed in recent years. From simple, humble omelets and fruit salads to an array of exotic dishes and vibrant drinks, there’s scope to explore all kinds of different options. Consider what kinds of ingredients you want to use, whether you want to serve hot or cold plates or a mixture of both and how you’re going to serve the food before making concrete plans. Are you keen to embrace casual dining and create brunch grazing boards, or are you eager to go the whole hog and plan a sit-down meal with savory and sweet dishes? Look for inspiration online, flick through magazines and watch TV shows. You can go for traditional classics, add a creative twist to tried and tested recipes or try something completely new.

Once you’ve decided what you’re going to eat, design a drinks menu. It’s a good idea to provide a blend of alcoholic drinks, for example, mimosas and fruit punch, and soft drinks. You can create your own mocktails or look for a healthy strawberry juice recipe to cleanse the palate between courses. Always make sure you check dietary requirements and allergies before putting your menu together, and bear timings in mind. If you don’t want to spend all your time in the kitchen, choose quick and simple options that will give you time to socialize too.

Choose a theme

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, or you’re desperate to get the girls together for a long-overdue catch-up, it’s a good idea to choose a theme for your daytime gathering. You can choose a colorway, for example, baby blue and white, blush pink or monochrome, opt for a style or era, such as vintage, retro or the 80s, or base your brunch on a film, country or event you love. You can use the theme to select decorations and tableware and specify a dress code. Whether you have plans for a gathering based on Grease, you’re hosting a pink party, or you’re going back to the 60s, you can encourage people to dress for the occasion.
