I moved to Florida four years ago and wish I had done it sooner! I’ve been able to travel throughout the state, exploring the beaches, the rivers and the theme parks! Florida is definitely a state that many people want to visit at least once in their lives. It doesn’t matter whether you live in the US or whether you are from further afield, it just seems to be attractive to all. From couples and families to solo travellers, there is something for everyone. Aside from some of the obvious choices, here are some of my personal favorites!
Orlando happens to be one of the most popular locations in Florida and for good reason, it is the home of Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and so many other fantastic theme parks and water parks. The perfect destination for families or couples that are still very much young at heart. Orlando is huge, so it might also be worth thinking about tagging on an extra few days to relax in some of the other locations shared below.
Miami is a vibrant city, and one that is famous for its Cuban influences and fantastic nightlife. It can definitely be on the hit list for couples, but there is also a lot that families can enjoy there as well. One of the best ways to see the city is from the water, and so it might be worth renting a boat in Miami for a morning or afternoon to see it from a new perspective. Aside from that, there is the fabulous architecture as well as the beaches to enjoy.
Fort Lauderdale is a city that you may not have thought about visiting before, but should. If you love the beach, and being on the water, then this is the place for you. A place to go is The Strip, which is aligned with upmarket restaurants and fabulous places for entertainment. A place that can be enjoyed solo, as a couple or as a family. Many people consider a road trip in Florida and this location should be added to the list.
The Florida Keys
The Florida Keys is another place you may not have considered before, but as there is a running theme based around water, this place also has some fabulous beaches and sights to witness. They are a stretch of 120 tropical islands that are between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. They are famed for fishing opportunities, boating trips and also snorkelling or scuba diving opportunities.
Anna Maria Island
Finally, Anna Maria Island is a barrier island on the Florida’s gulf coast. A small location with great beaches and also the small city of Anna Maria has a great street lined with galleries, restaurants and shops. The perfect low-key place to enjoy a relaxing trip. Many people head here as a place to relax after enjoying something a little more energetic.
So there you have it, whether you love the water, want to enjoy vibrant nightlife or embrace your inner child, Florida really has something for everyone. Let’s hope this has encouraged you to explore Florida in more detail.
