My Ultimate Guide to Budget Travel

If you are looking to see more of the world, chances are that you will have to save up your pennies, especially if you are planning a longer tour in a region or a country. The good news is that you might not need to opt for the expensive package holidays; in fact, you can save a lot of money by arranging your own trip. Below you will find a few tips on how to make the most out of your vacation budget.  You can find my favorite travel gear HERE

Backpacking

You can go backpacking and make the most out of the hospitality of locals. Of course, you will need to compromise on the quality of accommodation. You will either stay in youth hostels or with locals, but at least you will see things most tourists don’t get to experience. Backpacking is not only for teenagers and twenty-somethings. You can start your experience right now by checking out backpackingwiki.org for tips.

Caravanning

To get a bit more privacy and comfort, you can also go caravanning. No matter if you hire a motorhome or RV, or buy one for the trip, you will be able to stop wherever you want. There are also some great campervans for hire, so you can feel like you are back in the 70s and are able to connect with nature, live freely, and take a break from civilization.

Camping

By far, camping is the cheapest way of exploring a country, or even a continent. If you are planning on visiting Europe, or would like to go on a wine tour, you can simply plan your itinerary where you will stop for looking around, touring, or simply trying some of the local food and wine. Of course, you cannot predict the weather, but the savings might be worth it to put up with a bit of discomfort.

Motorbike Tours

There is nothing better than hitting the open roads on your motorbike. If you are an advanced rider, you will need to consider this option. The good news is that you can filter through traffic when you are going through big cities, and can stop almost anywhere. You should get a  top box and storage, though, to keep your camping kit and luggage dry and safe.

Train

If you happen to hate driving, or simply would like to sit back and take in the landscape, you should consider train tours. It is a much better option than a coach, especially if you would like to stretch your legs from time to time, and you are traveling overnight. There are different train schemes for under 25s, so you might explore Europe for less than you would think and take advantage of the unlimited travel offers.

To make your travel budget stretch further, you will have to choose a cost-effective way of travel. Choose a way of traveling, pick your location and accommodation, and get closer to the spirit of the place than you would if you were going on a package holiday.
