Henry Clay Mint Julep


  • fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1/4 cup soda water
  • 1 lemon twist
  • 1/4 tsp. powdered sugar


  1. muddle mint and sugar and bourbon
  2. add ice and shake
  3. add soda water
  4. top with mint sprig and lemon twist

I’m still recovering from our Bourbon & Bacon party this weekend.  Too many Mint Juleps for me…  I told myself that I would stay in this week and study for this exam I need to pass.  But, they opened a new Italian restaurant down the street and I’ve been there three times already.  It’s also the Yorktown Festival this weekend as well as the Poquoson Seafood Festival.  And you know how much I like Festivals….
